WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) – An annual flower sale returns to the Rockford area Thursday, raising money for mental health and substance use treatment services.

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., May 7, the community can buy flowers, plants and other gifts from either Gensler Gardens location, 8631 11th Street in New Milford and 102 Orth Road in Loves Park.

A portion of the money earned during the event will be donated to Rosecrance to bring behavioral health services to those in need throughout the area.

The event takes place each year the Thursday before Mother’s Day.

The long-standing tradition was started several decades back as a small flower sale at the former Rosecrance adolescent treatment campus on Alpine Road. Over the years the event grew, evolving into the community-wide event it is today.
