KENNEWICK — A major expansion of youth mental health services is coming to Kennewick as Lutheran Community Services Northwest prepares to open a new facility designed to meet growing demand in the Tri-Cities.
The nonprofit organization, which has served families in Benton and Franklin counties for more than 60 years, is building a new 38,000-square-foot facility on Canal Drive near major retail centers. The location will consolidate multiple offices into one comprehensive space focused on youth mental and behavioral health care.
The expansion addresses the Tri-Cities’ increasing need for mental health services, particularly for young people and families. Officials say the upgraded facility will allow them to serve more clients while reducing wait times.
The new building will feature specialized spaces including therapy rooms, a food pantry, and dedicated areas for teens and families, all housed under one roof. This design aims to provide comprehensive services in a single location rather than requiring families to visit multiple offices.
“You’ll see, as we get closer to August 5th, you’ll start to see the sign out there on Canal in the same sign. As, like I said, it’s Chick-Fil-A. And then we’re just we’re right there with our new neighbors, and we’re excited about about that,” said Amy Marinoni, regional advancement manager for LCSNW.
Construction is expected to finish this summer. The organization has scheduled an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony for August 5, with the facility opening to the public in early September.
Lutheran Community Services Northwest has operated in the region for more than six decades, providing various social services to local families. The new Kennewick facility represents a significant investment in expanding mental health resources for the area’s youth population.
