Honolulu Hale and the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena will be illuminated in green from sunset through sunrise through Friday, May 8. Green is the official color of mental health awareness recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month.

“As a community, we need to continue breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and make it clear that no one has to face these challenges alone,” said Mayor Rick Blangiardi in a news release. “Lighting Honolulu Hale green is a visible reminder that support is available, and that reaching out for help is a sign of strength.”

According to the release, the lighting is being conducted in partnership with the State of Hawaii Department of Health’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Division and Adult Mental Health Division as part of their 2026 Mental Health Month campaign. CAMHD, AMCH and partners in the community will host statewide activities throughout May to educate, raise awareness and provide access to mental health resources.

A nationwide observance since 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that mental health challenges are common, real and treatable. Communities can help individuals seek the care they need by listening, supporting each other and encouraging open dialogue.
