A newsletter for local events,
community happenings, and more…

JACKSON, Wyo. — This May, communities across the country will observe Mental Health  Awareness Month, a national effort to reduce stigma, increase understanding, and expand access to mental health resources. The Teton Behavioral Health Alliance, an initiative of the  Community Foundation of Jackson Hole, is leading local efforts to connect community members with information, support, and opportunities for engagement.

The Alliance has launched a Mental Health Awareness Month Community Calendar. The calendar serves as a centralized hub for events, workshops, and resources offered by organizations throughout Teton County.

“This effort is about visibility and connection,” said Kate Schelbe, Backbone Leader of the  Teton Behavioral Health Alliance. “There is incredible work happening across our community to support mental health. We want to make it easier for people to find it, engage with it, and  feel supported.”

More good days, together

Mental Health America’s Mental Health Awareness Month’s theme this year is; “More Good  Days, Together.” The Alliance is aligning with this theme as it encourages individuals and communities to reflect on what a “good day” looks like and how collective action can help make those days more common.

Local data highlights progress and need

Recent findings from the 2026 PRC Community Engagement & Behavioral Health Survey conducted by Teton Behavioral Health Alliance show both progress and ongoing challenges in.

Teton County. In 2026, 50.1% of adults reported experiencing three or more days of poor mental health in the past month, an improvement from 62.1% in 2021 and 69.0% in 2024.  However, disparities persist, with higher rates reported among women, young adults, Latine residents, and LGBQ and gender-diverse individuals.

“These findings show meaningful progress, especially in reducing stigma,” Schelbe added. “At the same time, they remind us that many people in our community are still struggling and  that access, inclusion, and connection remain critical.”

Data analysis is still underway, and survey results will be shared at a Town Hall in late September.
