A 48-year-old Minersville man is jailed on numerous felony charges involving child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
Minersville police charged Andrew C. Moyer, of 439 North St., after they reportedly found hundreds of photos and videos of child sexual material, in addition to evidence of inappropriate conversations with someone purporting to be a minor.
Police said they went to Moyer’s home on Monday for a report of a sexual offense. The defendant admitted to possessing 500 to 600 images and photos of sexually explicit child material on his phone, which he provided to police.
Police found numerous files on his phone, including on the app Zangi, which the defendant reportedly used to both receive and distribute the material. Police said he began receiving and redistributing the images as early as 2023.
Moyer was charged with 200 felony counts of disseminating photo/film of child sex acts, an additional 200 counts of child pornography and 200 counts of criminal use of a communications facility.
He was arraigned at 12:20 a.m. Thursday by Magisterial District Judge Edward J. Tarantelli in Frackville, and jailed in Schuylkill County Prison on $75,000 bail, according to court records.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. May 26 before District Judge Edward M. Lewis in Port Carbon.
