As someone else who has PMDD, I really appreciate you sharing! It’s such a journey to get there, but once you can land on the right medication setup and schedule, it’s sooo worth it!
I've been on Sertraline for awhile now. For me personally took 2 months for me to fully notice a positive change and shift with my mood and reactions to things.
I don’t know if this will necessarily make you feel any better, but I work in a psychiatrist’s office AND I’m on an antidepressant myself: every single thing you just said is totally normal. It really is a matter of just giving yourself time to adjust to having meds in your system. The initial boost is normal, a period of numbness is normal, and eventually things do balance out. I’d give it a month, and if things still feel off, bring it up with your doctor and they can make suggestions for any potential adjustments.
Thank you for talking about mental health. I have OCD. The stigma is has been so bad people were not getting help because of it. I think it is wonderful that someone who has a lot of followers talks about mental health.
I took sertraline for 6 years and the emotional blunting was SO bad. I'm on prozac now (plus a stimulant for my adhd) and it's so much better!!!!! highly recommend prozac
Be careful with sertraline. An unlisted side effect is that it causes really really bad acne. This can happen in 1-10% of patients, there is a lot of peer reviewed literature on it. I had a terrible time coming off of it.
I want you to know, I look up to you so much. I’m so inspired by your work ethic, that you’re 22 and you already bought your first house (like that’s amazing)!! Just wanna let u know u have supporters even if u can’t see them💗💗💗
Girl just know you’re seen and valued and important and you matter. I can see the tears behind your eyes on this video from the struggle , the exhaustion, the anger but just know you’re doing what’s right for you at the end of the day and you’re come so so far and we all need to stick together and you can do this. We are here for you ❤
As a girlie who experiences PMDD symptoms due to my PCOS, it’s awful 🙁 truly feels like the world is ending sometimes. You will figure it out and there are things out there that will help you! 🫶🏻
I had such a horrible time with sertraline (lost in the sauce, stress-vomiting before school) and loooove Wellbutrin. It’s wild how it’s all just educated guesses until you maybe land on a combo that works for you personally lol. It honestly annoys me that we’ve gone to space and the bottom of the ocean before figuring out how our own minds work 😆
20 years ago the answer would be half a bottle of whiskey, fortunately times change and you are doing great, human bodies are pretty unreliable sometimes, good days and not so good days ❤️
man it sounds like the med has sent you into peri menopause with all these symptoms. So sorry you are going through all this. Meds are the worst, and as I become older I seem to be sensitive to any med I need at any time.
Kaitlyn, I mean it when I say that sticking with my sertraline was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The first 6 months, I felt like all it did was make me nauseous, give me brain fog, and make me sort of numb. But I stuck with it, and one day I thought to myself “Wow, I feel so light.” It felt like this big weight had gently lifted away. I will be honest that I have not seen significant improvement with my anxiety, and still have so much work to do. But when it comes to depression it has made a world of a difference to me. It took time but I am very grateful that I was patient. It feels like that little push I need to help me be able to work on my mental health. I don’t think I could’ve reached my current level of healing and growth without it.
Did they check your thyroid? I went on Sertraline and I hated it. Then another doctor checked my thyroid and gave me thyroxine and it massively improved my mood and energy levels.
Jesus died for you and He cares about everything you are experiencing right now. I have been praying for you and others that everyone will come to know Jesus. ✝️💖
I've been on Sertraline and the first two weeks were hell, my depression got worse and I felt horrible, but after that a switch just flicked and I felt fine. Good even. I hope it can work for you too ❤
I had BRD and bipolar with mania, and I use lithium and risperidone. I take both at night cause they both knock me out. My Dr even said a sign I don't need them is that I can sleep without taking them, and I'm not there yet. But much closer. I can sleep without them them, it just takes a while to fall sleep if I skip then. Litte by little I'm tapering off. Sorry you have to take anything, but welcome to club. Keep posting on this topic, super important
I take sertraline every night before sleep. So it doesnt ruin my morning with its side effects. Sometimes mental medications are so tricky. We need to fine "the right" time to take them.
Like… im prescribed for Soroquin extended release. Basically its not allowed to split into two. But i do. And thats the right dose for me. Because i need 150mg dose. But Soroquin only has 300, 200, 100, 25 (if im not mistaken). And my psychiatrist said its fine as long as it doesnt give any negative effects on me.
Maybe you can find your own "right" time and "right" dose so your body wouldnt feel too awful. Just a suggestion from someone with Bipolar Disorder for a lifetime.
PMDD girlie here! They left me undiagnosed for years! I was in and out of psych wards most of my 20's because they just didn't know what caused me to keep being so ill so often. I'm 35, about to graduate uni ( I was too sick to go when I was younger) I loved your college vids they helped me motivate, it was hard starting in my 30's. I still suffer those 2 weeks but knowing what it is and what helps me has been life changing. I can't believe i'm about to complete my degree and travel all the time. You've got this. One piece of advice though and any mental health professional will tell you this. Be cautious taking sertraline at night, everyones different but generally It wakes you UP! In hospital if you wake up late for morning meds they won't give sertraline past midday because it is known for poor sleep. But meds are super trial and error, it's frustrating but you'll find what works for you. I wish you so much good! You smashed college and inspired us all, and PMDD is super hard! Love from a UK follower ❤️

Just don't take sertraline with water that's when it makes me nauseous

Omg I have PMDD too. It’s awful….but once you get a diagnosis the awareness & ability to plan around your cycle is so key.
