This week on “In Focus,” we explore the state of mental health in Wisconsin. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. It started more than 70 years ago to help fight stigma, provide support, and educate people on mental wellness.

State Sen. Brad Pfaff, D-Onalaska, discussed the challenges facing rural communities and Wisconsin farmers when it comes to accessing mental health resources, specifically in western Wisconsin.

Pfaff also addressed the mental health challenges many Wisconsinites in predominantly agricultural communities have been facing and who’s stepping up to help them overcome the stigmas tied to it and seek out the help they need.
