Maryland First Lady Dawn Moore honored Montgomery County student Carina Araujo for winning the 2026 Children’s Mental Health Matters Campaign statewide poster contest during a ceremony at Government House.
Carina, 13, was selected from nearly 200 submissions for her artwork titled “Every Bloom Needs Their Ray of Light,” which promotes awareness of youth mental health resources during Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week. The campaign’s annual poster contest, organized by the Mental Health Association of Maryland, also highlights the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and this year’s theme, “No Judgment, Just Help.”
State officials and mental health advocates joined the event, including leaders from the Maryland Department of Health, the Maryland Department of Disabilities, and the Mental Health Association of Maryland. Carina’s artwork will be featured throughout Mental Health Awareness Month on campaign materials, social media, and at community events statewide. Officials also highlighted the Moore-Miller administration’s ongoing investment in mental health services and efforts to expand awareness and access to youth mental health resources across Maryland.
