City on a Hill Behavioral Health Center received a grant from the Kiwanis Club of Coeur d’Alene to help expand access to affordable ADHD testing for children and adolescents throughout North Idaho.

The grant funded the purchase of the IVA-2 assessment tool, allowing City on a Hill to provide comprehensive ADHD evaluations at a significantly reduced cost of $500 per assessment.

Comparable ADHD evaluations in the community typically range from $800 to $2,000.

City on a Hill Behavioral Health Center is a mental health facility offering psychiatric evaluations, medication management and counseling services.

The Kiwanis Club of Coeur d’Alene is a nonprofit dedicated to serving children and strengthening the North Idaho community through volunteerism, partnerships and youth leadership programs.

ADHD testing services are available for children ages 7 to 18 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday through Thursday by appointment.

Testing includes a clinical diagnostic interview, the IVA-2, and additional assessment measures designed to evaluate attention, impulsivity, and related behavioral concerns.

ADHD evaluations are recommended for children who demonstrate persistent difficulties with focus, impulsivity, hyperactivity, emotional regulation, academic performance, or task completion across multiple settings such as school and home.

Clinical Director Joe Mitrovich stated that testing is essential because ADHD is often masked by or occurs alongside other conditions.

“Nearly 78% of children with ADHD have at least one co-occurring condition, such as anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder, behavioral challenges, or learning disabilities,” Mitrovich said.

According to national data, approximately one in nine U.S. children from ages 3 to 17 years old are diagnosed with ADHD, with rates often higher in rural and nonmetropolitan communities.

Early identification and treatment can significantly improve academic performance, emotional wellbeing, peer relationships and long-term outcomes.
