MONROE, La. (KNOE) – Friends Freely Given is hosting their 5th annual “Mental May” mental health awareness event in Bastrop on Sunday, May 17.

The event will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Smith Wilson Park (formerly E. Madison Park).

Event organizers say this year’s theme, “I’m Hanging On by a Wing and a Prayer,” aims to encourage open conversations around mental health while offering hope, healing and community support.

The event is completely free and open to the public, providing access to counselors, therapists, community organizations and valuable coping and wellness resources.

Organizers say, “attendees can expect an uplifting atmosphere filled with encouragement, connection, and restoration. Food trucks and community vendors will also be on-site, contributing to a family-friendly experience designed to bring the community together.”

For more information or to participate as a vendor or partner, contact Yulonda Caldwell at 318-463-5929 or freelygiven5@gmail.com.
