“What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candor, and more unashamed conversation.” — Glenn Close

Since 1949, May has been recognized as National Mental Health Awareness Month.  The primary aim of this month is to help promote support for those with mental health conditions, help reduce the stigma associated with mental health, and to educate the public about how mental health is just as important as physical health.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health it is estimated that more than one in five United States (U.S.) adults live with a mental illness. And according to the World Health Organization, more than one billion people are living with mental health disorders globally.

Although Mental Health Awareness Month is a collective way to focus on mental health, taking care of our mental health should be a daily journey in order to help adapt to and handle life’s challenges.

On Morning Energy we are going to spend time exploring ways that we can better take care of our mental health as it relates to so many different areas of our lives.

Join me, Renna on Friday from 4-6am for a very special musical journey about this very inspiring and intriguing topic.  And if you miss the live program, you can always listen to the weekly program for up to 7 days on the archives at https://www.wmnf.org/events/morning-energy/.
