KINGSTON, N.Y. –  NAMIWalks Mid-Hudson will be held on Saturday, May 16, at the Walkway Over the Hudson, with participation from both the Ulster and Dutchess County sides.

NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Health. NAMIWalks Mid-Hudson brings together individuals, families, local organizations, and businesses in a powerful show of support for mental health awareness, advocacy, and community connection, a press release about the event stated.

Registration opens at 10:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 11 a.m. A community ceremony will follow at noon at the Center Overlook by the flagpole.

Held during Mental Health Awareness Month, this year’s message is “Stigma grows in silence. Healing begins in community,” the announcement said.

“This event is about connection, hope, and reminding people that they are not alone,” said Jo Ann Brown, Executive Director of NAMI Mid-Hudson, in a news release. “Every step taken and every dollar raised helps ensure that individuals and families in our community have access to the support and resources they need.”

Proceeds support NAMI Mid-Hudson’s programs, including support groups, educational courses, and community presentations.

Community members are encouraged to get involved by registering as walkers, joining or starting a team, becoming a sponsor, or making a donation.
