NEOSHO, Mo. — A Neosho homeless center is hoping to address mental health needs by providing more resources.

Restoration Life Center in Neosho has partnered with Access Family Care in Joplin to bring mental health services for their homeless community.

When prospective clients first come to the center, their needs are first assessed. That assessment covers several factors, like medical needs and medication.

Before this partnership, that was a tall task, and there often weren’t enough employees on staff to bring clients to Joplin for that assessment. Now, they can bring the resources to them.

Once a week, two therapists will travel to Neosho in Access Family Care’s mobile unit to fill that need.

“It’s crucial for them, for one thing, to have this assessment done so they can evaluate where they’re at, what they need, and better help them with their job training to move on and become more of an individual that’s successful in the community,” said Karen Sprenkle, Restoration Life Center executive director.

The mobile unit will start appearing at RLC in June. This is phase one of the partnership, and Sprenkle says they have more exciting ideas in store.
