More than $7.7 million in federal funding is coming to two organizations to support early childhood education and behavioral health services in Western New York, U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy announced Monday.
As part of the funding, $7.4 million will go to Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. through the Head Start program to support early childhood education, school readiness, and family support services, and $357,754 will go to the Seneca Nation of Indians through the Behavioral Health Integration Initiative to strengthen behavioral health services and improve access to integrated care within the community.
“Investing in children, families, and mental health services strengthens communities across Western New York and the Southern Tier,” said Langworthy. “Programs like Head Start help ensure young children have the support and educational foundation they need to succeed, while behavioral health initiatives provide critical resources to individuals and families facing mental health and substance use challenges.”
The funding comes from the Department of Health and Human Services.
