BENNINGTON — In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Battenkill Valley Health Center (BVHC) and Turning Point Center of Bennington (TPC) are highlighting a growing collaboration that is making meaningful strides in supporting individuals and families in recovery across the region. Grounded in trust, consistency, and a shared commitment to care, this partnership reflects a unified approach to addressing behavioral health, substance use disorder, and overall community needs at a time when awareness and access are more important than ever.

In their recovery programming, TPC works closely with individuals who can benefit from BVHC’s behavioral health services. This collaboration ensures those seeking support are connected to the care they need. While other partnership efforts have not always come to fruition for TPC, their experience with BVHC has been markedly different.

“BVHC shows up when they say they will,” shared Ralph Bennett, TPC assistant director. “That consistency is building trust and ensuring that no one falls through the cracks. BVHC therapists will be on-site each week here in Bennington to meet patients in recovery.”

TPC has developed an integrated approach to recovery that is responsive during times of crisis, and also provides ongoing supportive services such as their Paradise Recovery House (Paradise). Paradise is a recovery residence that provides structured, recovery-oriented housing. Through the TPC/BVHC partnership, individuals can access timely, coordinated support when they need it most. Together, these organizations are working to strengthen the entire family unit, recognizing that lasting recovery and wellness require a collaborative, community-wide effort.

Mental Health Awareness Month serves as a powerful reminder that access to compassionate, coordinated care can change lives. This partnership is a direct reflection of that mission: breaking down barriers, reducing stigma, and meeting people where they are.

“This partnership is a powerful example of what can happen when organizations truly listen to the needs of their community,” said Lori Vadakin, Director of Behavioral Health at BVHC. “We are committed to responding in thoughtful and meaningful ways, expanding access to services, removing barriers to care, and supporting those who are ready to take the next step in their recovery journey.”

BVHC continues to prioritize the development of sustainable programs that create real, lasting change. By strengthening partnerships like this one with TPC, BVHC is helping to build a more responsive, connected system of care, one that meets people where they are and supports them on their path forward, not just during Mental Health Awareness Month, but every day.
