BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (WSBT) — Students signed a 90-day Peace Pledge at Benton Harbor High School’s CTE, SEL and Mental Health Expo and News Conference.

It was organized by the Peace4Life Leadership Academy, the event promoted peace, healing and mental wellness among students and the community.

Organizers also introduced new “Peace4Life Hubs” aimed at supporting student mental health and improving school culture.

Leaders say the initiative is part of a larger effort to secure $15 million in funding for the hubs and a specialized Mental Health Court.

“Mental health affects everyone and it affects how we do in school. It affects how we talk to people, how we react. Mental health is a very big thing that should be broadcasted more and should have more resources for it,” said Samyah Crenshaw, Benton Harbor High School Senior.

Afterwards, guests visited an expo to see what students are achieving.
