LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – Border Region Behavioral Health Center will host an art and health exhibit to celebrate creativity, mental wellness and artistic expression.

The exhibit will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, May 22, at the center’s auditorium at 1500 Papas St. The event will showcase artwork created by clients who participated in the Yano Art and Health Program throughout the year.

Laura Cortez with Border Region said the exhibit marks the end of Mental Health Awareness Month activities in May. “Art heals, and art is therapeutic,” Cortez said.

All artwork will be available for purchase, with prices ranging from $10 to $30. Proceeds from sales will support the art program.

Patty Orduna, the program’s art instructor, has led the initiative for 15 years. Cortez said the program has transformed many patients’ lives.
