Traffic came to a standstill along the westbound lanes of I-76 near Lake Milton for what the Ohio Department of Transportation is calling a “Police incident”.

Cars and trucks began backing up on the interstate just after 10 a.m. Tuesday, as police and other First Responders gathered along the bridge to deal with a person suffering from a mental health crisis.

According to ODOT, all I-76 westbound lanes were closed beyond the State Route 534 interchange.

One driver told 21 News that traffic began to move slowly just after 10:30 a.m. Before 11 a.m., cars were moving freely again over the bridge. 21 News spotted a car parked along the bridge, but emergency vehicles had cleared.

Troopers say the person involved was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
