Summer House - Season 10

The bulk of Tuesday night’s Summer House reunion was dedicated to the ongoing West-Manda scandal and the accompanying fallout. Between the spats, though, we got to hear from freshman castmate KJ Dillard, who talked about his tight-knit family with Ciara Miller and Mia Calabrese and revealed that he had gone through “some heavy stuff mentally” last fall.

“I actually had to go to the hospital for self-harm,” Dillard told Andy Cohen. “I was there for a week. Mia and Ciara were there almost every day.”

Following his hospitalization, Dillard said he went into recovery for several months and was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD). “I got to focus on myself; I needed that,” Dillard said of his time off, adding that he’s “grateful” to the Bravo audience for embracing his story. He has since been in therapy and is on medication to help manage his day-to-day symptoms.

“My whole life, I distracted myself and ran away from my issues instead of facing them head-on,” he said through tears. “I’m grateful that I’m here alive because I could have not been.”

Dillard got a shoulder squeeze from castmate Carl Radke while sharing, and Jesse Solomon, who was seated directly next to Dillard, held back tears as he commended Dillard for his bravery. Hugging his friend, Solomon said, “I feel for you.”
