The Kane County Health Department (KCHD) has published its 2025 Annual Report, showcasing the programs, partnerships and services that helped improve health outcomes and strengthen communities across Kane County during the past year.
The report highlights KCHD’s work in behavioral health, communicable disease prevention, environmental health, emergency preparedness and maternal and child health. Through collaboration with community partners, healthcare providers, local governments and residents, the department continued to address some of the county’s most pressing health challenges.
“Public health succeeds through partnerships,” said Executive Director Michael Isaacson, MPH. “The accomplishments in this report reflect the dedication of our employees, the support of our community partners and the commitment of residents working together to create a healthier Kane County.”
Among the report’s highlights:
5,588 notifiable disease investigations helped protect the community from infectious disease4,603 food service inspections ensured safer dining and reduced foodborne illness risk3,648 people received lead poisoning prevention education on risks and how to protect their homes and families379 referrals connected expectant parents and families with young children to nurse home visiting services12,925 residents used Behavioral Health 360 for mental health information and support 19,584 doses of naloxone were distributed to help prevent opioid overdose deaths3,637 referrals were made through the Integrated Referral and Intake System (IRIS), connecting individuals and families to essential services 1,166 vaccinations were provided to protect children, families and the community from preventable diseases3,107 gun locks and safes were distributed to support safer firearm storage
KCHD’s work is funded through a combination of federal and state grants, local revenue, fees, permits, inspections and other funding sources, allowing the department to provide essential public health services to Kane County residents.
