Australian ratios are 1:4 for <2 yo
Usually a room of 8 with 2 staff.
We don't carry them but always have eyes on. Easy to sit with 4 supported in a floor donut & talk, sing or read. Your room buddy might be changing a nappy or in a cot room.
When outside we usually have a low fence so can interact with older kids & carers over the fence.
This doesn't mean every centre is great, however most of us try incredibly hard.
I dont understand why we dont have 7 years maternity payments ( paid as a government entitlement) so we can stay at home and raise our own children properly….
Albonesse has no clue how to make babies.
Albanese does not care
It should never be the job of a total stranger to raise your children from a young age
Unfortunately it is a 21st C reality. I wish there was some way all parents could be given timeto raise their own babies for at least the first year.
If its good enough for a gulag.
Some people have to work long hours just to afford housing and food. You rich people can't imagine that.
From cradle to school to career, trained by government system to be a quiet good worker bee. 😮 exact same stem for nursing homes
UK it's 1:3.
Or perhaps stop having children that you cannot afford to care for?
The parent needs to make choices and daycare is not a good choice its just convenient.
Why would I ever hand over my 12 months old baby to a daycare. That is the main problem!
The daycare epidemic of recent decades is a sign of a dysfunctional society. It should not be this way!
She’s wrong I’m a mum and I’ve worked in daycare centres. 12 month olds explore with their peers and are starting to learn rudimentary social skills and understanding the world around them. They tell you when they need cuddles and it’s never every child at the same time. Under her silly model kids would never be able to explore their own space nor interact with other babies and the cost of childcare would be even more prohibitive. She sounds like she is secretly advocating for stay at home mums or but the more likely outcome in this economy would be more child free couples
Women look after your own babies for gods sake.
All a baby wants is to touch small see and hear is it's mother.
Day care is scarey some kids have escaped and no one even noticed!!
Check out the number of politicians, and their families, that own or have shares in day-care centres.
"No less than 5:1." 8 worked at a daycare and it was 3:1 for infants. The ratios got bigger as kids aged, but there were always 2-4 adults in each room.
All daycare centers should be shut down
I've worked in daycare. And I can tell you my personal Max was six children. But that's at a good hour. Really more than three to one 4 to 1 depending on the temperament and the needs of the child is far too much. But in that case the daycare costs would be much higher.
I love the children and to me the time that they spent their was their life. Whatever they would experience was the main part of the day. Children need to be loved and taken care of and paid attention to as well as played with and appreciated. I could never work in daycares for an extended period of time when it was so overcrowded.
In Sweden is not 1 to 12, where did she get this wrong information?
It's not a secret, I really question any mother who puts a baby in day care
3:1 in England. And it is very much subsidised by the government
As an 18 year old trainee nurse I looked after a ward of children on an afternoon shift – approx 50. What were they thinking of? It taught me to prioritise
ABSOLUTELY. As an educator she is spot on!
Numbers from Sweden are not true. That's at kindergarten age which are preschool kids in scandinavia.
Yeah I had the worst experience with my 18 month old. Luckily, I was pregnant and could pick her up early so she only ever went for a few hours every other day over a few months but we pulled her out as soon as we found out that she was being mistreated. It took them 3 weeks to inform us about the mistreatment though! We were going in and chatting to the person who abused our child and not knowing what had happened… I even thanked her for some advice about shoes… then the centre finally told us what had happened. Luckily, they fired all the "carers" who had been in the room that day but my god, the anger and pain I felt that day. If I had seen those women after finding out, I would probably be arrested.
