Davis County Public Health was at the Senior Center presenting a Mental Health Wellbeing program this past week. Taking care of our mental health is important at every stage of life. 

Common mental health conditions include major depressive disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, panic disorder, and others. People living with mental health condition can get better, recover, and thrive. Help and support are available. Contact our Davis Co Health at 664-3629.

The Bloomfield Senior Citizen Council is striving to assure a higher quality of life for our senior citizens in our community through Milestones AAA aging programs and financing the building, liability insurance, utilities, and kitchen equipment. One way the Bloomfield Senior Citizen Council makes sure they have funds for keeping our senior citizens with a higher quality of life is their upcoming bake sale that will be held Friday, June 12, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Donations are always appreciated. The Bloomfield Senior Citizen Council thanks you for your support.

Milestones volunteers are essential to our mission, and we always have a need for big-hearted individuals willing to donate their time, be it a little or a lot. Volunteers are needed in every community Milestones serves, and there are several ways to offer your time.  Volunteer roles include but are not limited to meal delivery, kitchen assistance, wellness program assistance, office help and community advocacy.  No matter your availability, if are you are willing to donate even a few hours per month, we’d love to hear from you.

Tuesday May 26: Paula Dearborn prepared meatballs in gravy, potato salad, pickled beets, peach pie.

Wednesday, May 27: Katie Eakins made ham and potatoes au gratin, green beans, peaches and cornbread for lunch. Paula delivered meals to our homebound. 

Tierre Chickering, Case Management and UR from Davis County Hospital & Clinics presented the monthly health program on “Change.”  Tierre explained that adapting to life changes as a senior is a journey that requires resilience, flexibility, and a positive mindset. By embracing new opportunities, staying active and connected, and taking care of both physical and emotional health, seniors can navigate these transitions with grace and purpose. Tierre’s next visit will be on June 24 at 11:30 a.m. 

Thursday May 28: We celebrated the birthdays of those born in May like Barb Williams. Katie made us a delicious birthday dinner of chicken Alfredo, California vegetables, tropical fruit, cake, and ice cream.

Upcoming events: each morning 9 a.m. exercise program; Tuesdays and Thursdays, bingo at noon.June 4, Mobile Food Bank, 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Apostolic Christian Church; June 9, blood pressure clinic; June 12, fundraiser bake sale 9 a.m.-noon; June 12, Senior Citizen Board Meeting.
