A new treatment center focused on substance use disorder and mental health care is set to open in Muncie, expanding services for residents across Central Indiana, according to a community announcement.
Indiana Treatment Centers plans to open the facility in Delaware County to address limited local access to care. The project is a partnership involving Indiana Treatment Centers, Delaware County leaders and Ascension Recovery Services, which develops and manages behavioral health programs nationwide.

Indiana Treatment Centers’ newest facility, at 3000 S. Tillotson Ave. in Muncie, will provide medical detox, substance use disorder treatment, and mental health care for individuals and families across Central Indiana.
Expanding access to local care
The new center was developed in response to longstanding gaps in treatment availability in the region, where people often had to leave their community to find services, according to the announcement.
The Muncie location will offer medical detox and residential treatment programs. Care will include evidence-based approaches, individualized treatment plans and clinical oversight for people with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. The facility is designed to provide a structured setting that supports stabilization and long-term recovery.
Community support and need
Local leaders and organizations across Delaware County have backed the project, citing the need for more treatment options and resources for people seeking recovery.
“The opening of this new inpatient treatment center in Delaware County is long overdue,” Jeffrey Hansard, chief probation officer for Delaware County, said in the announcement. “For years, our community has faced some of the highest rates of negative outcomes connected to substance use disorders while lacking enough local treatment options for people who were ready to get help. This center fills a critical gap in our local continuum of care and represents hope, access, and a stronger local response to one of the most serious issues facing our community.”
The center is expected to serve people and families in Muncie, Anderson, New Castle, Marion and nearby areas.
Grand opening planned
A public grand opening event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 24 at 3000 S. Tillotson Ave., Muncie.
The event will include tours of the facility, introductions to clinical staff and leadership and remarks from community partners. Attendees will also be able to learn more about services offered at the site and how the program supports regional recovery efforts.
