COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — The 16th annual Faces of Resilience fundraiser luncheon assembled more than 230 advocates of mental health support throughout the state of Ohio.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Patrick J. Tiberi were honored at the luncheon for their efforts to make effective change across the heart of it all.
The event was led by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and raised nearly $900,000 for Ohio State’s Center for Psychiatry and Resilience, which focuses on world class clinical research in the areas of trauma care, suicide prevention, depression treatment, addiction recovery, early psychosis interventions and the SOAR study.
“This event serves as a powerful reminder that mental health touches every community, every workplace and every family. And it reminds us why our work is so urgent,” John J. Warner, MD, chief executive officer of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and executive vice president at Ohio State said in a statement.
DeWine was recognized for his efforts addressing the mental health crisis in Ohio, creating the RecoveryOhio initiative and contributing to the State of Ohio Adversity and Resilience (SOAR) study by securing funding for the historic study.
President and CEO of the Ohio Business Roundtable, Patrick J. Tiberi was awarded The Ohio State University STAR Award for Outstanding Contributions in the Fields of Trauma and Resilience during the luncheon.
The Faces of Resilience fundraiser featured remarks from Ohio State football coach Ryan Day, as well as a performance by women of the Harmony Project’s Prison Arts Program at The Ohio Reformatory for Women.
