LANSING, Mich. (News 10) -As the need for mental health services continues to rise, Community Mental Health in the Greater Lansing area is expanding to meet the demand. Leaders say they’re growing their crisis services department with a new, state-of-the-art Crisis Care Center designed to serve both children and adults. The goal is to fill a gap in care—so people don’t have to go straight to hospitalization when they’re in crisis. Instead, the facility will offer crisis intervention with immediate, intensive treatment in the community. Services include therapy, group support, psychiatry, and more—described as a “one-stop shop” for crisis care. On the children’s side, staff say family involvement is a major focus, reminding caregivers they are the experts on their own family. Organizers say the message is that healing is possible and there can be a light at the end of the tunnel. The expansion is also expected to bring new jobs, including registered nurses, mental health therapists, and bachelor’s-level positions. A job fair is set for June 25 from noon to 5 p.m.at the new Crisis Care Center, with onsite interviews for applicants who bring a resume and readiness to work.
