ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Officers with the Rochester Police Department responded Wednesday to a mental health crisis at an apartment complex.

According to RPD, officers arrived to an apartment along 19th Street NW for an individual making threats to harm his neighbors with a firearm.

Officers secured the scene and helped evacuate nearby residents while crisis negotiators began speaking with the male by phone.

A SWAT/Emergency Response Unit was called to the scene.

The individual was taken into custody by around 11 p.m. and transported to the Mayo Clinic emergency room for evaluation.

RPD says a firearm was located inside the individual’s unit.

No injuries were reported from this incident.
