A Ringtown man has been charged with 14 counts of reckless endangerment — one for each person on the school bus that he allegedly side-swiped May 29 in East Union Twp.
Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville said they had to track down the 39-year-old driver, Michael Jevelle, because he drove off immediately after the collision.
The 13 students on the bus — all between the ages of 7 and 12 — the bus driver and Jevelle were all uninjured, police said.
The incident happened at around 8:14 a.m. May 29 when a 2025 Thomas Built school bus was traveling on Nuremberg Road and in the process of turning left onto Cove Mountain Road.
Police said a 2015 GMC 1500 pickup truck driven by Jevelle attempted to illegally pass the bus on its left side. The collision resulted in “moderate cosmetic damage stretching along the entire left side of the school bus,” a state police release said. Meanwhile, Jevelle’s truck sustained moderate damage on the front-right side.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 16 before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker.
