The Osage Ambulance District’s Mobile Integrated Healthcare program has installed the first of three healthcare vending machines planned for central Missouri to expand access to health and wellness resources, according to the organization’s Facebook page. Funded through a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the first machine has been placed in Linn, Missouri, through a partnership with Larapin Properties.

The healthcare vending machine provides free access to a variety of community health resources, including overdose prevention supplies, personal hygiene products, educational materials and other items intended to reduce barriers to care. Program officials said the kiosks are designed to make critical health services more accessible for residents of Osage County and neighboring communities, particularly those facing challenges related to substance use disorders and behavioral health.

The Linn installation marks the first phase of the project, with two additional healthcare vending machines expected to be deployed at other locations in the coming months. The broader program is supported by federal funding aimed at expanding behavioral health services, substance use prevention efforts and community-based healthcare access.
