May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize the importance of our mental wellbeing. In HSD, we remind students, staff, and families that mental health is something within each of us. It shapes how we think, feel, connect with others, and handle stress. We encourage our community to speak respectfully and inclusively about mental health, create safe and supportive spaces for open conversations, seek help when needed, and encourage others to do the same.
Simple, everyday habits can make a big difference: getting enough sleep, eating balanced meals, spending time outdoors, and enjoying fun activities together as a family are all meaningful ways to support mental health. Here are some activities your family can explore together from resources we use in our schools:
HSD is also excited to share a new partnership with Care Solace, a comprehensive care coordination service that connects students, staff, and their families to mental health providers, substance use treatment, and social services matched to their unique needs. Care Solace provides confidential support and can help families find providers based on their insurance coverage, location, language, and other specific needs. This service is available year-round and at no cost to you! To get started, visit caresolace.com/hsd-k12.
