Loudonville Police Handle Crashes, Disturbances, Welfare Checks and Mental Health Calls During Busy Week

LOUDONVILLE — Loudonville Police officers handled a wide range of calls between May 10 and May 17, including crashes, disturbances, suspicious activity reports, mental health-related calls, medical assists and several citations.

The week began early on May 10, when officers assisted an Ashland County deputy with a disturbance on East 1st Street in Perrysville. Later that morning, police responded to a two-vehicle, non-injury crash at West Main Street and Market Street. A 24-year-old Loudonville man was cited for assured clear distance ahead.

Officers also responded to Riverside Park on May 10 for a suspicious person complaint. Following an investigation, a 63-year-old Clinton man was cited for having an open container of alcohol in public. Later that afternoon, police were called to a business parking lot in the 300 block of West Main Street for a report of a person urinating in public. A 38-year-old Loudonville man was cited for disorderly conduct.

Police handled several welfare and mental health-related calls throughout the week. On May 11, officers helped search for a missing juvenile in the 400 block of South Market Street. The juvenile was eventually located. On May 12, police responded to the 200 block of North Water Street to assist a person in a mental health crisis. The male was transported to the hospital. Later that same day, police responded to a business in the 300 block of West Main Street regarding a person acting abnormally. That person was also transported to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

On May 13, officers responded to the area of North Spring Street and Mill Road for a report involving a juvenile in a mental health crisis who was driving a vehicle into town. Police located the vehicle and juvenile, and the juvenile was eventually transported to the hospital.

Police also assisted with a suspicious item on May 14 in the 200 block of North Market Street, where officers helped the Fire Department and Bomb Squad.

Traffic-related calls included multiple reckless operation complaints on East Main Street on May 14, though police were unable to locate the vehicles. On May 15, a 28-year-old Mount Vernon man was cited for speed on Wooster Road after allegedly driving 52 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Officers made an arrest on May 15 after responding to a disturbance at a residence in the 200 block of North Jefferson Street. Following an investigation, a 44-year-old Cowansville, Pennsylvania, woman was arrested, transported to jail and charged with criminal trespass.

The following morning, Loudonville Police were notified that Brunswick Police had contact with a female who had an arrest warrant through Loudonville P.D. Brunswick officers arrested the female, who was expected to be transported to the Ashland County Jail on the Loudonville warrant.

On May 16, police responded to several disturbances, including a domestic dispute in the 300 block of West Campbell Street, where the parties were separated for the night. Later that morning, officers were called back to the same block for an active disturbance, and an Alliance man was formally given a no-trespass notice.

Also on May 16, Loudonville Police assisted multiple EMS and law enforcement agencies at Mohican State Park for a bike rider suffering a major medical emergency. Later that afternoon, officers took a report from a citizen in the 3000 block of South Market Street who said their vehicle had been “air tagged.” Police said that investigation remains pending.

On May 17, police responded to a parking complaint in the 400 block of South Market Street, where a parking ticket was issued. Officers also handled a one-vehicle, property-damage-only crash in the 400 block of North Mount Vernon Avenue and assisted a disabled motorist on East Main Street near Market Street.

Police also reported that a 47-year-old Loudonville man was charged with abusing harmful intoxicants as the result of an investigation that began April 27 in the 800 block of South Market Street.

From May 10 through May 17, Loudonville Police conducted 27 business checks and 18 traffic stops that resulted in warnings.
