LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Community members gathered Thursday evening for the Mercy Health Foundation’s annual Red Door Gala, raising money to support a new adolescent behavioral health program at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center.

The gala brought hundreds of supporters together for an evening of food, entertainment and fundraising. This year’s event focused on raising money for the hospital’s new adolescent behavioral health program, which officials say will help address a critical need for youth mental health services in the region.

Hospital leaders said the program will be the only one of its kind in the area, allowing adolescents to remain connected to their daily lives while receiving the care and support they need.

“The number of people that come out and support St. Rita’s is truly humbling. They know that their donations are going to stay right here in Lima 100% and we are thrilled to be able to improve the health and the wellness of the people that we that we live with, that we love. We get to celebrate what we’ve accomplished. We get to look forward to the new adolescent behavioral health program including two new child psychiatrists that we have been able to recruit as well,” said Ronda Lehman, president of Mercy Health – St. Rita’s.

The Red Door Gala began in 2018 as part of St. Rita’s 100th anniversary celebration and has since become an annual fundraising event supporting health care initiatives throughout the hospital.
