SHELBY COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) – Shelby County officials responded to a mental health crisis just south of Shelbyville on Monday.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office requested Shelby County Emergency Management Agency issue an emergency alert Monday morning.
Copeland Road, 1800 East, directly south of Shelbyville, was closed for much of the afternoon due to an emergency situation. Shelby County EMA shared that the road reopened just before 4 p.m.
A WAND News photographer at the scene captured Illinois State Police assisting Shelby County officials, while a helicopter is on standby.
It is unknown whether anyone was taken into custody following the standoff.
