VIDEO: A nonprofit in the Poconos is helping first responders put their mental health first.

The Carbon Monroe Pike Crisis Intervention team hosted the “Behind the Badge Resiliency Summit” at Camelback Resort in Tannersville.

Police, fire, EMS, and corrections officers from across the three-county region gathered to learn what resources are available to them.

Officials with the agency say that with a high-stress job, it’s important to talk about personal struggles to end the stigma.

“Hopefully our officers and our first responders can share what they are going through and have a little more grace with each other and seek the treatment they may need,” said Tiffany Rex.

This was the first of its kind summit, with 75 attendees.
