A Klingerstown man is behind bars without bail after police say he caused a disturbance and a domestic incident at two different residences, which involved a physical altercation and a pistol.

Robert Bixler, 54, faces seven charges, including felony counts of aggravated assault and carrying a firearm without a license, and misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Bixler was denied bail and is currently held in Schuylkill County Prison.

According to an affidavit, state police at Schuylkill Haven were called to two separate Upper Mahantongo Twp. residences around 2:45 p.m. on Sunday. Police first stopped at the location of the domestic incident report — Bixler and his wife’s Kopp Road residence. The complainant was Bixler’s daughter, who told police that the couple had allegedly been engaged in a verbal fight over unfaithfulness.

But before that, Bixler had stopped at the Vista Road residence of a man who Bixler claimed his wife had an affair with.

There, Bixler allegedly approached the man and started a verbal altercation that became a physical fight. Bixler allegedly reached for a pistol in his pocket, leading to a tussle between the two men to prevent the firearm from being used.

The man successfully separated Bixler from the pistol and, after refusing to return it, Bixler left the residence on his own.

When police questioned him, Bixler admitted to fighting with the man, the affidavit said.

Police seized the pistol, which was handed over by the victim, and found that Bixler’s license to carry a concealed weapon had expired more than a year ago.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 25 before Magisterial District Judge Christian Lengel.
