  1. I had my mother call a hospital in Pennsylvania and I literally told the nurse in charge I didn't want to speak to her. I didn't want anything to do with my mother at that time and I still dont

  2. I always thought my family would notice when I stopped eating and cleaning and everything but they don’t. Killed all my 30 houseplants and nobody noticed. Nobody notices bruises and shit

  3. Fortunately I'm very close to my family and back in 2012 when I was sent to a psychiatric hospital (in Finland) they would visit me regularly. Also my younger sister was a nurse in the same hospital and came to see me almost daily. I was in very bad state (mentally) and at first I tried to beg them to let me leave the hospital, screaming and crying at them. They were patient with me and managed to convince me that I wasn't well at all and needed the help. I was there over 3 months and have been thousand times better since. The therapy and meds definitely helped.

  5. Why does this sound like my mom but I’m the one who ended up in the psych ward 😭 I’ll mention that my nutritionist is making me eat an Actual Breakfast and she’ll be like ‘what, no. i don’t eat anything in the morning and I’m fine’ but then complain about how she always feels tired in the early afternoon lmao

  6. All i can say for bad family relationships is this.

"The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb."

Covenant means "an agreement" and in this situation can be interpreted as a friendship.

This doesn't mean abandon your family. You can have a covenant with family, but in cases of bad family it means that you may find stronger relationships with friends than that of your family.

  7. most psych patients have horrible families. That's why they'e so ill in the first place. Everytime I have been inpatient I have heard some awful stories. I'm pretty bad because of my family but theyre all gone now, due to cancer and I am still trying to heal from what they did to me.

  8. No doubt the patient is aware. But there is no telling how many times or under what circumstances the family member has attempted to talk about basic self care to them. Between the masking and denials — relationships and interpersonal communications are not always healthy.

The bigger goal would be to keep in mind whatever your appropriate role is — and use that role to create the best outcome.

  10. my ex MIL hAD ME TRUSTING IN HER THAT I WAS '' A LARD ASS'' I WEIGHED 120S AT 5'7, we had ,well i had a baby 3mos prior to that so i was looking great. but i let her convince me and my husband had to get me help bc i was starvinf myself and weighing myself . she was a bigger lady who had a pos husband leave her after she went from thin to bigger and older. he was no looker. but she was. 22yrs of marriage and her son cheats with a 22 yr old. she said she tried to warn me. i did gain 25 lbs after i left him but that was depression. i let hert actually get in my head and i hope i run into with my actual fat self now driving the car i could never get bc she told my hub no to spoil me. well my fat ass is spoiled now SHELIA

  11. Fear. People fear what they don’t understand or cannot control. Parents often feel a certain degree of helplessness because most have no clue what to do when their child experiences a mental health breakdown.

  12. I was a continuous victim of SA and other abuse as well by my stepfather growing up. I was a mess. They used the hospital as a punishment for me, making it sound horrible. It wasn't until later that I was able to see it as a good way to heal. So, when my girls were needing help, I was able to help them get help. I let them know that it's ok to ask for help. They feel safe to ask me for help. Learning their coping skills they learned in the hospital helped me as well. I never got admitted before. I was too busy taking care of everyone else.

  13. … At least the parent wants them to eat? Could've gone about it better, obviously, but they had a point about the expresso. Sound like the whole family could use some therapy.

  14. I think the world can do without more media shorts mocking people that suffer with mental illness. I'm sure there are plenty more things about the world you could post. Just an empathetic thought…..smh🤦
