jim so what’s a high functioning sociopath a high functioning sociopath is a person who has antisocial personality disorder who tends to be less impulsive and more calculating they often have higher intelligence so they might have a higher level of education they might move in different social settings they don’t get caught as often when they break the law they’re less reactive to anger sometimes basically they blend into society much better they actually can maintain jobs and maintain relationships where some low functioning sociopaths can’t and they often achieve great success even corporate success even political success

I'm diagnosed with ASPD and am pretty high functionining. Fact is, these psychologists don't really understand us. I hear lots of blanket statements thrown around even by the "experts" that are not applicable to all sociopaths, at least not all the time.
So how do you spot them?
It’s like they are glorifying this idiotic horrendous trait. They are not nice people to be around. They are better to be excluded out of society. Unfortunately cooperate life is crawling with species like this. It’s just inevitable to bypass these monsters.
Sociopaths are made by traumas in their life. The more trauma you experience the more humanity goes away. You become numb in so many different ways. You see them often in Any Army, in Any Police Force. It's become that, or commit suicide like so many veterans do. God rest their Souls. Because death is the only way to be free😢

I’m one and yet I have a kid a wife and a job friends and yet I don’t care for any of them I feel like I’m a leaf blowing where ever the wind takes me but I’ve got so good now at reacting and pretending. I feel like I understand why people feel the way they do I just don’t feel what they feel simply put I don’t care but no one knows and I don’t know if anyone ever truly will know I thought about therapy to see what they think but honestly I have never talked to anyone about it and I probably never will

I think many of these sick empty people are in charge. In places where a person with a heart should be. Idc what anyone says these people are monsters, maybe some lesser than others but I’ve dealt with a few. I am a very empathic person….but it lacks with cruel people, or people who toy with others for fun, and these people are to be avoided when found out. I’m sure this community who feelings nothing would even be offended by this.

This is my ex, thank you for giving us a refreshed view. My ex would listen to me closely and seem to let it sink in, then he would use my weights and measures and explain what I said in his own word to let me know he understood me, he did this all the time.

I wish I was like that, I mean, at least if I can’t be fixed better off to embrace it and come to god, instead of a low functioning sociopath I think I have antisocial personality disorder but I’m not successful with relationships work failure with education. I don’t even work 20 hours a week.
That just sounds like a narcissist. My ex is a sociopath and he definitely was less impulsive but only when he was being more calculated with his manipulation meaning whenever he was trying to actively be manipulative he was able to control his emotional reaction because his goal was always to flip the script on the other person. He would victimize them, act oblivious to the point that the other person would then retaliate or become reactive, then he would act like the victim.
