St. Mary’s Health System in Lewiston has added a new intensive outpatient program amid continued demand for mental health services.
The program is a continuum of behavioral health services designed to support individuals at every stage of need. It provides structured therapy several days per week while allowing participants to live at home, maintain daily responsibilities and stay connected to family and community.
The service will operate alongside St. Mary’s day hospital program, which offers a higher level of daytime care. Together, the programs are meant to provide options for higher patients to move between levels of treatment without leaving the system.
Patients in the program receive group therapy, individualized treatment planning and support from an experienced behavioral health team.
Care may include skill-building, coping strategies and therapeutic interventions to address anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders and other behavioral health conditions.
The addition builds on St. Mary’s broader behavioral health services, which include inpatient units for adults and adolescents, a behavioral health emergency department for crisis stabilization and substance use treatment therapy through its Center for Recovery.
