AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Veterans gathered at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center on Freedom Way for a mental health fair focused on connecting them with resources and support.

The fourth annual mental health fair took place this afternoon at the medical center.

Dr. Ardra Gilchrist, a local recovery coordinator, said she started the event to streamline access to services.

“I wanted veterans to get all the information they could get in one place without having to go back and forth with other people, so this event started four years ago because of that,” Gilchrist said.

She said the fair plays a critical role in ensuring veterans receive care.

“Events like this make all the difference between veterans receiving service and not receiving services at all,” Gilchrist said.

Veterans who missed the event can get help from the medical center’s registration office.
