The Hall County Government and its Board of Commissioners will soon host a free event to celebrate America’s 250th birthday and Mental Health Awareness Month.
The tandem celebration will be held on Friday, May 29th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hall County Government Center.
“This is a first-of-its-kind for Hall County Government,” Board of Commissioners’ Chairman David Gibbs said. “We’re bringing the community together to celebrate 250 years of American independence while also highlighting the importance of mental health and well-being as a critical part of a strong community. It’s an opportunity to connect, have fun, and support one another as a community.”
The event will feature live music from local band GoodFolk, a variety of food trucks and activities including a petting zoo and face painting. The County said attendees will also get the chance to connect with government departments and local organizations that offer mental health resources.
“We want to take this opportunity to come together as a community, and to spend an evening without the day-to-day worries we face as individuals,” Public Information Officer Joy Licciardi said. “So, bring your families, pack your lawn chairs and spend a fun-filled evening with us at the government center.”
In addition to the event, Hall County Government has partnered with the United Way of Hall County on a giving campaign. The initiative aims to support the overall well-being of the community, including mental health.
Donations will be used to help ensure Hall County families and individuals have access to resources, connections and support during difficult times, according to the county. Donations can be made online or in person throughout the month of May.
In-person donations may be dropped off at the following locations:
All five Hall County library branches (Downtown Gainesville, Spout Springs, Blackshear
Place, Murrayville and North Hall Tech Center)
All three community centers (East Hall, Mulberry Creek and North Hall)
The Hall County Government Center and Temporary Annex
The Hall County Courthouse
The Hall County Government Center is located at 2875 Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville.
