I am an RN and had depression my entire life but the last 5 years its has become so bad I can no longer work and now living with my mother and I have been on one med after another nothing helps and depression has taken everything from me and well I guess I let it take everything from me. The worst thing is feeling a failure as a parent and my children deserve a mentally healthy mom. My kids are young adults now and i feel the most shame that my depression affected them and still does. When my kids were younger I knew I could never harm myself because they needed me and never wanted to cause that pain to them but now they are grown I feel that it wouldve been better to be gone than continue being a mom with issues that hurt my kids emotionally.
