Dakota Vascular, the Sioux Falls region’s trusted leader in vascular care, is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Helpline Center’s Step Forward to Prevent Suicide walk on June 6 in Sioux Falls. The public event is one of the non-profit’s largest fundraiser of the year. The Helpline Center offers free 24-hour support through the 211 Helpline and the 988 Lifeline in South Dakota. The organization also offers various suicide loss survivor services, mental health trainings and a variety of marketing materials for free to anyone across the state. This reflects Dakota Vascular’s ongoing commitment to treating the whole patient, not just their vascular health, but their emotional and psychological well-being as well.
About the Collaboration
Dakota Vascular is committed to raising awareness of the Helpline Center’s free, confidential services and programs among its patients, staff, and the broader community, ensuring that anyone who needs support, mental health guidance, or community resource connections knows exactly where to turn. These services are available to all South Dakotans, not just those connected to Dakota Vascular.
The collaboration will include in-clinic awareness materials, patient-facing communications, staff education on available resources, and coordinated community outreach efforts. Dakota Vascular recognizes that cardiovascular and vascular health are closely linked to emotional well-being, stress, and mental health—making this an organic extension of the care they already provide.
“When we treat a patient at Dakota Vascular, we’re treating a person, not just a condition. We know that mental and emotional health are inseparable from physical health—and for many of our patients, the stress and uncertainty that comes with a serious vascular diagnosis can be overwhelming. Connecting them to the Helpline Center means connecting them to a lifeline that exists around the clock, every day of the year.”

About the Helpline Center
The Helpline Center has served the people of South Dakota for decades, providing free and confidential services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Their services include crisis intervention for individuals experiencing suicidal ideation, mental health emergencies, or personal crises; the 211 information and referral service connecting individuals to local community resources; the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline; and volunteer training, community education, and awareness programs.
Every year, the Helpline Center responds to tens of thousands of contacts from South Dakotans who are struggling, scared, or simply in need of a trusted voice. Their staff and volunteers are trained to listen without judgment and to connect callers with the specific support they need.
“We are grateful for the support of Dakota Vascular and their willingness to stand alongside us in serving the health of this community. When local organizations like Dakota Vascular amplify the work we do, it means more people know they have somewhere to turn in their most difficult moments. That visibility saves lives.”

A Shared Commitment to the Sioux Falls Community
Both organizations serve a community that has grown significantly in recent years—and with that growth has come increasing demand for accessible, compassionate healthcare and mental health support. Dakota Vascular and the Helpline Center share a belief that strong communities are built on a foundation of care, access, and connection.
Dakota Vascular will display Helpline Center materials in its clinics and educate front desk and care coordination staff on available resources and referral pathways. Dakota Vascular will also look for opportunities to promote Helpline Center awareness aligned with national mental health awareness months and vascular health initiatives.
Patients and community members can reach the Helpline Center 24 hours a day at 211 for general resource needs, or 988 for suicide crisis or emotional support.
