The Best Way to Treat OCD [Without Medication]

OCD, or obsessive-compulsive disorder, is a mental health condition characterized by obsessions and compulsions. If you or someone you know is living with OCD, watch this short video to find out what the best non-medicated treatment is and if it’s right for you.

This video is brought to you by Columbia University’s Center for OCD & Related Disorders. The mission at the Center is to improve the lives of people with OCD and related disorders by conducting cutting-edge research to transform how we understand and treat these disorders.

For the patients of today, they examine how to combine and sequence current treatments to maximize outcome, and how to explore novel treatments. For the patients of tomorrow, they collaborate with experts in neuroimaging, genetics, and basic science to examine what causes obsessions and compulsions.

  1. I do have ocd
Like for me it's really bad that
I cant allow anyone to touch me or i can't touch anyone and anything,
And after my clothes are dry , my granny do always bring and arrange it but i feel like someone touched it and may be it was kept somewhere
That i do again wash my clothes
And my hands have became like a 40 year old ( im 17) i have wrinkles in hands as i use sanitizer and handwash alot,
Alot like if i touch a door i do wash , if i touch a wall i do wash and while travelling to clg if someone touches me i do come home back and wash my whole body again and again
    I wish i could die
I couldn't focus on studies like before
I have become distinct from my family
I couldn't allow myself to touch anyone
    And even my phone
If anyone touches it , i should clean it and touch
    Literally its hell

  2. I’m not sure this video is talking about actual OCD. Cleanliness and order is normal people who grow into some obsession!
Actual OCD is on a whole different level, nothing to do with any specific results. It’s all about fear and just the doing, the results are indifferent to the poor soul that possesses OCD. It’s just a prison of specific and non specific fears. The specific and non specific are both equally devastating to the person experiencing it. The experience is out of this world overwhelming no mater how nonsensical it is to everyone else.

  3. Im struggling with my little sister she doesn't listen when i tell her to resist and confront her thought if a drop of water hits her she question whether its clean or not, she cleans herself everyday almost 10 times and changes her clothes almost 7 time until there not pijamas to change into. Everyday we have to wash the clothes infront of her or she wont believe we cleaned it 😊

  4. i suggest all ocd pateints my used techniq hope this will help you too……so you have to write your problem on piece of paper and next to it write all possible solutions to that problems…..like solution number 1…….solution number 2……like that…when you done writing all solutions…wrap that paper n keep that paper in safe n private place…….now when next time ocd thought come…you remind your mind that all possible solutions all already written on that paper…n when that bad happen in real, you will try those solutions you written on paper. but right now i will not think trying to find out solutions to that fear for future because you already have all solutions on paper. so think only one word "" Cut off"" just like swtich off a button for room light. that will be like you crushed initiation of thought as it started making chains of thoughts. by thinking you already written all possible solution to your fear or ocd thought n right i will not think on this thought finding its solutions… like you have to read only before exam .not everyday

  5. Live The Life that you want to live stop following that thoughts, just ignore them , Focus on peace, Believe in god , follow God not the mind.Just let it happen you don't gone die by it your are alive,❤Be in present Live the present Just live the present…God Please bless Everyone ❤

  6. I feel like im going crazy.

Each day i wake up i suffer from this good for nothing mental illness OCD.

if i wash my and i feel like i didn't do if i touch any thing i wash my hand i hate it.

If i go somewhere i will lock door but then in road i doubt that wait did i lock the door?

If in school i have anything like exam, i later fear and doubt that wait did i gave that exam.

If i eat chips or any thing biscuit i wash my hand which i don't mind much. But if drop of water fell in my body during washing my hand, i clean my body with water.

I hate OCD so much. I thought i was alone but after seeing the comment , i just saw how many people suffering from OCD.

    May God help us soon.

  7. So your suggestion for curing my OCD is to stop being so obsessive? What does "resisting ritauls" even mean? I CANNOT RESIST IT. That is literally the definition of this disorder. My condition is not so severe, it's about numbers, counting, patterns etc. I don't want to count stuff sometimes, but I do and believe me I try to resist, I just can't.

  8. How are you supposed to expose yourself to things like binge eating, binge gaming, self-hatred, loneliness, etc.? This seems like a joke
