Why It’s Important to Talk about Mental Health | Friendship & Mental Health | Ad Council

I think that sometimes we can coast especially in the age of social media where we don’t have to talk to our friends to know what they’re up to and we assume how they’re feeling but when we go that extra mile when we take that extra step to look them in the eye and say how are you doing or tell me about X Y & Z often we’re just so happy to be seen that it opens up a dialogue pretty organically [Music] all you can do is help I think it’s always better just do it then to hold back because you know the whole bystander effect happens where someone thinks oh but someone else will ask and someone else will give help to that person or someone else must have already noticed by now but if everyone thought that then no one would actually reach out and that person may not get the help that they need [Music] [Music]

Ali Weiss and Adrienne Finch discuss why it’s important to talk about mental health with friends. It doesn’t matter how you start the conversation, just that you do.
