After a 1 minute recap of each video, I’ll be available for questions on these topics or any other related to Mental Health.
– Myths About Stimulants:
This video addresses a number of topics, some of which I have described more fully in their own videos:
1. “Stimulant” is a poorly defined term.
2. Methylphenidate (Ritalin) isn’t a strong stimulant.
3. Prescription stimulants won’t rot your brain.
4. Non-stimulants can work quickly for ADHD.
5. Stimulants don’t cure ADHD.
6. Most people don’t become tolerant to the benefits of stimulants.
7. Nobody should take “high dose” stimulants.
– People with ADHD Don’t Need Drug Tests:
A small proportion of those taking stimulant prescriptions become addicted or abuse their medications, but very little evidence suggests that urine or blood testing makes this less likely. In addition, the tests are fraught with false positive rates, and tend to degrade the doctor – patient relationship.

Psychiatrist, neuroscientist, and author John Kruse, MD, PhD presents practical, actionable, well-researched information about treatment options that scientists and clinicians recommend for adult ADHD and other mental health conditions. Subscribe if you’re curious about how neuro-atypical brains can optimize their functioning in our shared, and somewhat strange, world.
Dr. Kruse has posted talks in both the “live” and the “video” sections of this channel. Thumbnails on ADHD topics have a pink background, and those on more general mental health topics have a purple background. A small collection of ADHD-Trump videos have an orange background.
You’re welcome to email him with topics you want discussed or people you think he should interview.

I have a question: is it correct to say that stimulants are a necessary but not sufficient condition to overcome adhd symptoms, particularly when it comes to executive function?
