BYRON, Minn. (KTTC) – We’ve all heard the saying practice makes perfect. Momentum Behavior Services in Byron is using that term to better support its learners and caregivers with simulation rooms designed to help children build everyday life skills.
KTTC first reported on this story as construction for the rooms was underway. Now, the rooms are complete and open for families to explore.
“It’s been a great way for us to educate the community as well about our learners and our population that we work with and showing how just unique and fun they can be as well,” said Seth Franz, the organization’s chief executive officer.
Some of the rooms at the center include a grocery store, a barber and beauty shop, a medical exam space, a dental office and a restaurant.
While engaging in the spaces, Jenna Kokoski, chief operating officer of Momentum Behavior Services, says students are learning to participate in vital activities while also gaining career skills.
“We have kiddos that come in and learn how to shop at a store, how to restock items, and they’re learning the skills of what it would be like to actually work in a store like this,” she said.
Just outside of its building, the organization is currently constructing its wooded playscape that is expected to be completed by the summer of 2026.
