ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) -It’s now May and Rock Island Public Library is set to promote activities, events, and programming for all ages marking the observation of May as Mental Health Awareness Month, as well as the Summer Reading Challenge kick off on June 4.

How the Rock Island Public is observing Mental Health Month.

The month-long campaign is focused on bringing attention to mental health. Patrons can pick up a self-care bag at any of the locations. Each is filled with items to reinforce and educate about mental health. The bags are available only while supplies last.

How can people help show community support of mental health?

Anyone can get involved through the Yard Sign campaign – pick up either of two designs: Be Kind to Your Mind or You Are Not Alone.

The signage is available while supplies last at all locations.

Plant A Seed: READ Summer Reading Challenge Kick Off

This free-to-attend party is an all-ages kick off at Quad City Botanical Center on June 4 from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

It is an opportunity to sign up for summer reading while having fun while visiting a variety of activity stations, playing on the grounds (including the Children’s garden) or enjoying free popcorn and water. Attendees are asked to bring a refillable water bottle.
