Charles Gaulin, Hematologic Oncologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“At Dartmouth’s Rural Health Symposium, William P., an MS2 on our team, presented a retrospective analysis looking at the intersection of psychiatric burden and immune effector cell (IEC) toxicities.

Interestingly, the data showed an inverse association between pre-existing mental health disorders and the incidence of CRS in patients receiving CAR-T bispecific therapies – a signal that persisted independently of area-level structural deprivation in our rural-serving cohort.

This hypothesis-generating data stimulated interesting discussion regarding the neuro-immune axis and the potential modulatory effects of psychotropic medications during his session.
