LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — As Mental Health Awareness Month begins to wind down, Team Outreach Lima is working to keep conversations about mental health going in the community.
The organization is hosting a mental health experience called “Out Loud and Unafraid” in partnership with Manna Health, Better Life Advocates and Lima Allen County Neighborhoods in Partnership. Organizers say the event is designed to bring residents together in a fun and informal environment focused on connection, support and healing through conversation.
“I think people need to be comfortable that they’re not alone,” said Denise James, LACNIP President. “If we can start having events like this, especially events where we’re talking to one another. We’re not just coming and picking up resource information, we’re creating conversations.”
The event will feature food, music, guest speakers, mental health resources, a hygiene giveaway and fellowship for attendees of all ages.
“Out Loud and Unafraid” will take place Thursday, May 28, beginning at 5 p.m. at Lima Allen County Neighborhoods in Partnership, located at 1440 W. Spring St.
The gathering will be picnic-style, and organizers encourage attendees to bring lawn chairs, blankets and the whole family for an evening focused on support and community connection.
