Used to work w/ API community in the mental health field. I was always referred as a social worker so that it reduces stigma when clients come in for treatment services. Always wondered if things may change if those who are receiving treatment get educated about what therapy is and what a therapist does. Now that I work in a medical setting w/ general population, I am recognized as a therapist and once in a while a monolingual Chinese patient comes in, but they seem to have more acceptance and understanding of what therapy and therapists are. Could also be that the population I served in the two different settings are of different SES. Thanks for sharing this study.
