CHIPPEWA FALLS (WQOW) – The new behavioral health hospital in Chippewa Falls took a major step towards serving patients in the area Thursday.
Rogers Behavioral Health broke ground Thursday evening on the new hospital in Chippewa Falls, beginning construction on the facility off Highway 178. The hospital will provide inpatient, outpatient, and residential mental healthcare for adults and adolescents, and medical detox and telehealth.
Rogers CEO and president Cindy Meyer says they hope to help fill mental healthcare gaps left by the closures of the HSHS hospitals and Prevea clinics.
“This is a very important day because there was a need that was identified by this community, and legislators, and DHS for a need for behavioral health services and we were able to work together to bring those services here,” Meyer said.
The project received $10 million in state funding through a bipartisan bill authored by local Republicans Sen. Jesse James and Rep. Clint Moses.
While the new hospital is being built, Rogers will open two mental health clinics this fall, one in Chippewa Falls and one in Eau Claire.
Meyer says the plan is to have the new hospital fully open in the spring of 2027.
